A SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE
In 1993 I was sentenced to 50 years in prison for a second degree
drug related murder. I was young immature, thinking I knew
everything at a young age coupled with my inability to comprehend the
law resulted in my incarceration for 19 years now. Through my
rehabilitation I took advantage of all educational opportunities and
joined over 36 self-help groups. My rehabilitation process
led me to start counseling at risk youth in jail and the outside
communities, school and churches that visited and participated in
seminars and work shops. I began thinking about my decisions as a
youth and was inspired to start my youth groups. Eastern
Correctional Institution youth and gang emancipation project, Maryland
House Correctional youth counsel, youth reaching out, smoking anonymous
and men incarceration stress therapy (M.I.S.T.) are groups I found to
teach the youth of today how to make sound responsible decision. I
am a God fearing man who is still growing mentally and spiritually
decision. Using my strong gift (WILL), I aspire to build
youth center program called youth reaching out ground zero wing of
H.O.P.E. (HELPING OTHER PEOPLE Evolve). I don't have all the
answers to the problems that plague our youth; however I do have some
solutions.
