I AM
We are sometimes the emptiness that dwells in a place from which some say
we cannot escape,
And we are sometimes the dreams shattered, yet the hope regained when we
reach out again for glory in the light.
That can be: the magnificence of striving and going beyond the dark
despair when we understand the truth, And there, the sunlight surrounds
our aspirations, our achievements that no one can erase.
yet true victory is not found by those who in their hated try to defeat
the human sprit, For days follow, and years elapse in which they who
survive must with their choices live.
The vanquished, not we, accept the tyranny of those who inflict it and
want us to walk in the fires of their confusion.
So let the head hold high which looks beyond the mire, the hatred, or
the mire, You can't, it's not for you, you are this and not that,
Yet in your heart you know otherwise. You are the truth which reminds
them of the injustice's they have inflicted upon the world, You are the
joy, the laughter, the prayer, and the hope that is your eternal sprit,
You are the history, the ancestors, the elders, the parents, the youths,
and those yet born, you are the wondrous future forming in the light, as
well as the noblest wishes that humanity has for itself. And yes, you
are the truth that says boldly: I see, we see, I can, we can, For within
space and time and consciousness, you are the one who from your true
perceptions and definition says: I am.
