Me and Randy Turrow... Hollywood Producer- Produced Adam Sandler's 1st
movie w/ me and the Miss Texas USA girls called Babes Ahoy.
Everyone writes and asks what my life is like living on the same
unit where they house death row. Karla Faye Tucker lived here. I live in
a dorm, not a cell, no bars clang shut. I have a red brick cubicle, with
red tiled floors and a window bed. My window opens up to a 20ft ceiling.
The night air feels so good, like being on the lake on a boat at night.
My view is of the mountain side and three telephone poles that when the
sunrises, look exactly like Calvary-thus we live on Ransom Rd. We eat
really well here and have our own garden. We eat fresh vegetables and
fruit someday. Our kitchen captain takes pride in his job. Other units
are not so lucky.
I work in Braille transcribing for
the manufacturing and logistics dept of the Texas Dept. of Criminal
Justice. I transcribe books for the Texas Education Agency and a
University in Georgia into Braille for the blind. I am a certified
Braille transcriber here on my unit. I type books for the blind for
universities and elementary school. I have a great life here... I live
in a dorm not a cell. We have a gorgeous chapel and many wonderful
people who come and visit from all over the world. I Braille the "Karla
Faye Tucker Set Free" by Linda Strom for my final exam in The Library of
Congress. So many miracles have happened since then-we do not suffer we
are blessed. "I'd rather be tried by twelve then carried out by six". I am also a certified
tactile graphic designer. Everyday I work on my music certification. It
is like learning a foreign language, but much harder since Braille is a
"code" using only 6 keys. Louis Braille based it on the Morris Code.
Our rec yard is huge and we have a track. We have a ranch out
back with tons a grazing cattle. It reminds me of home. This is where I
see the gorgeous hill country sunsets. They say that the reason the
sunsets are so amazing here is because of all the prayers to and from
the prisons. My favorite thing to do here is see the sunset.
Our chapel is fabulous also. We feel like we are in a real church
in the free world. It has wooden pews, stained glass windows, a big
stage and surround sound. Famous people from all over the world come to
minister to us. We are so lucky.
I attend Central Texas College. It is the military branch of Ft.
Hood and this college is located around the world. So, I feel blessed to
be able to attend this school. We have great professors who really care
about the ladies changing.
I often get asked what I want to do with my life after this
ordeal is over. Since I have been so unhappy for so long, I have had to
really think things through. I think I want to go back to my roots and
live on a lot of land, have horses, dogs, sheep, cattle and rescue
animals too.
I love polo and golf, so I would like to have charity events for
abused women and children, children of the incarcerated too.
I have been asked to join a prison ministry also. I am working on my
seminary studies. Remember that Moses, Paul and David all have my same
charge in their history. So, don't think God doesn't use people who make
mistakes. Actually, He is known for using the very ones people thought
were lost causes.
I am a hopeless romantic, and still
after all I have been put through, I am not bitter or angry. I try to
look beyond the current circumstances and don't think I don't cry, just
not as much anymore. Recently I have found a lot of peace...it has taken
me 6 yrs-But, I AM ALIVE- what a miracle!!

Me and Marty Snitkin- Best friend for 25 years!
